The Masdar Zero Energy Mosque is a schematic design proposal that redefines the relationship between spirituality, cultural identity, and environmental responsibility. Situated within Masdar City, Abu Dhabi’s hub for sustainable innovation, the project aims to set a benchmark for zero-energy sacred architecture.
The design integrates site-responsive planning, passive cooling techniques, and optimised natural daylighting to minimise reliance on mechanical systems. At the same time, it creates a strong community presence, with gathering spaces and intuitive circulation that promote accessibility and inclusivity.
Through its architectural language, the mosque draws inspiration from tradition while responding to contemporary needs. The result is a balance of heritage and innovation, reflecting a commitment to spaces that are both spiritually uplifting and environmentally sustainable.
