The Vision Pavilion at Masdar City explores the future of intelligent, sustainable architecture. Inspired by the Albizia tree, it introduces Airshade, the world’s first air-powered shading system that operates without electricity, sensors, or motors. Using air expansion from solar heat, the system adapts dynamically to the sun, creating natural shading.
Constructed from a hybrid wood–steel structure, the pavilion is modular, prefabricated, and circular, integrating robotic manufacturing, 3D printing, and CNC machining. Materials include FSC wood, recycled steel and aluminium, aiming for a CO₂-negative footprint.
Placed at the heart of Masdar City’s Central Park, the pavilion serves as a landmark for innovation, offering flexible spaces for lectures, exhibitions, and cultural gatherings.
